Impressionism- Renoir's roses KS1

This is a fun art activity that introduces children to Impressionism and French artist Renoir. Children will first learn a bit about the artist and the art movement he was a founding member of before creating their own floral masterpieces. This resource includes: An artist introduction presentation An activity instruction presentation A lesson plan A template for those that need extra support This activity will also enable children to practice using tints and shades and develop their knowledge of colour and form. This resource has been successfully used with children in years 1 and 2 but would also work with older children too. Basic art supplies are needed for the activity- acrylic paint in black, white and three other colours to give children choice, paper, and a paintbrush for each child. (water is not required). The paintings once finished make a nice art display and are equally good for using as Valentines themed cards or gifts.

Remembrance Day art activity worksheet KS1 KS2

This Remembrance Day themed art activity explores the four different colours of poppies that are currently in use (red black, purple and white) . Children will first learn about the colour and meaning of each poppy before designing their own version which could be used to represent all groups. Once designed the poppies could be cut out and made into a wreath or other display. I have successfully used this worksheet with years 3,4, 5 and 6 but it could also be used with younger and older children too. Only minimal art supplies are needed- pencils, erasers and something to colour with.

Day of the Dead colouring pages

Day of the Dead is a two day Mexican celebration where the dead are honored and remembered. It is a time of joy and happiness, skulls are an important feature of the celebration and are seen everywhere. This resource includes 3 skull colouring pages of varying difficulty. I have successfully used these skulls with years 3, 4,5 and 6 to create masks and bunting and also as templates for foam printing but they could also be used by both younger and older children for a variety of activities. I also have a Day of the Dead presentation available which offers a good introduction to the event. https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/day-of-the-dead-presentation-dia-de-los-muertos-12748287

This resource is a 15 page presentation on Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). The presentation includes when, where, why, how and by who this colourful festival is celebrated. This presentation is a great introduction to Dia de los Muertos and acts as a starting point to a whole range of other activities. I have successfully used this with children in years 2,3,4,5 and 6 as an introduction to the celebration before completing skull themed art activities.
